Columbia College Chicago: Plan and Design Guidelines
Campus Preservation Plan for South Loop Buildings

MIA prepared a Campus Preservation Plan for Columbia College’s urban campus, made up of scattered buildings that have been adaptively reused within Chicago’s South Loop.  Consisting of an assessment of nine individual buildings, encompassing 1.25m square feet of floor space, the project included archival research, determinations of historic significance, physical descriptions, detailed survey, and analysis.  MIA also prepared Historic Building Restoration Guidelines.  The plan and guidelines serve as a planning tool to guide work at the College’s historic buildings.  Funding for the project was provided through a Getty Foundation Campus Heritage Grant.
