Krause Music Store
Restoration of Louis Sullivan’s iconic Krause Music Store Facade
Built in 1922, the Krause Music Store building was designed by architect William Presto in collaboration with architect Louis Sullivan. The building’s elaborate terra cotta facade is Sullivan’s last executed design. The building is a City of Chicago Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. MIA restored the terra cotta facade, the upper story leaded glass windows, and tile at the storefront entry floor for Studio V Design. The restoration received a Chicago Landmark Award and a Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award in 2007.
