Canton, IL: Facade Rehabilitations
Main Street Business District Facade Rehabilitations for Thirteen Owners

After a 1975 Tornado ripped through Canton, many remaining facades had been clad to conceal the late 1800s and early 1900s masonry. The Rehabilitation included research and on-site inspections to determine historic appearances and identify extant original elements and deterioration. Facades were repaired when possible and elements reconstructed where missing. New sheer walls were constructed where required by current code.

The restoration was part of the overall historic downtown streetscape improvement plan overseen by Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development with funding from DEOC and ITEP, who provided owners with architectural services and matching their construction costs.
