Cook County Building, Chicago, Illinois
McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. consulted to Soodan & Associates for the exterior restoration of the Cook County Building in Chicago. The scope of work includes preservation consulting, the assessment of granite masonry and terra cotta for repair and cleaning, and material testing; and a survey and condition assessment of 1400 windows for the restoration of historic wood windows, and replacement of wood and non-historic steel windows. All work completed while the building was fully occupied. Designed by Holabird & Roche in the Classical Revival style, the Cook County Building was completed in 1908. The City Hall portion of the building, which is nearly identical in design, was completed three years later. This granite and terra cotta building is a city of Chicago Landmark. |
