Exterior Stone Repair


McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. performed Architectural/Engineering services for the restoration of exterior masonry at Swen Parson Hall at Northern Illinois University.

Water infiltration led to the displacement and deterioration of stone in localized areas of the building's façade. The scope of work included an investigation of the source of water infiltration, determination of the extent of deterioration, recommendations for its repair and restoration. McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. provided architectural services for all phases of the restoration.


Swen Parson Hall houses the Law Library for the University. Constructed in 1945-52, in the Collegiate Gothic style, the exterior consists of random coursed rubble stone with cut Indiana Limestone quoins and trim. The building is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
