Exterior Restoration


McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. completed the comprehensive repair of the building envelope in accordance with the Standards and Requirements of the Chicago Public Schools.

Project included brick, limestone and terra cotta restoration, repointing, masonry and terra cotta cleaning, rebuilding of parapet walls, roof replacement, replacement of non-original windows, and selective interior repairs.


Designed by architect P. Gerhardt, the building was constructed in 1929-30 and ornamented with elaborate terra cotta panels. The 200,000 square foot building is four stories with three-story wings. It opened as a junior high school in September of 1930 and in 1933, became a high school.
