Center on Halsted
Chicago, Illinois
McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. completed Illinois HABS documentation, existing conditions survey, and facade restoration of this highly ornamental terra cotta and brick facade.
The preservation of the façade directly contributed to the LEED Silver Certification for the redevelopment of the property.
Designed by David Saul Klafter and built in 1924, the building was originally known as the Sexauer Garage. Eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, the building is noteworthy for its polychrome terra cotta, particularly the winged wheel motif that advertised the building's function.
