Façade Restoration

McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. provided architectural services for the evaluation and restoration of the terra cotta street façade at the Krause Music Store Building.

Recipient of 2007 Chicago Landmark Award & 2007 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award.

Work included archival research to locate architectural and terra cotta shop drawings; field survey; complete hands-on façade inspection; evaluation of existing conditions and recommendations for restoration; preparation of construction documents; bidding assistance and construction phase assistance.


The building, constructed in 1922, has a façade that is the last executed commission by architect Louis Sullivan in his personal style. The Krause Music Store building is a Chicago Landmark.
