| 35 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois Façade Rehabilitation McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. is the architect for the façade inspection, evaluation and restoration of this historic high rise. Work included hands-on façade inspection, evaluation and phased restoration. Services included research of the original terra cotta shop drawings, development of construction documents and site observation for the complete dismantling, inventory, and reconstruction of four corner turrets, reusing original terra cotta and new structural elements for long term restoration. This city of Chicago Landmark, designed by Giaver & Dinkelberg in the Beaux Arts and Renaissance styles was built in 1926, is 41-storeys. Terra cotta details include the initials JB, which stood for the building's original name, "Jeweler's Building". Setbacks on the 24th floor are punctuated with corner turrets that artfully hide water towers. The high rise's tower is topped with a domed belvedere. |
