MCGUIRE IGLESKI & ASSOCIATES, INC. was commissioned by the Historic Pullman Foundation for the stabilization and rehabilitation of this National Historic Landmark located in the Pullman National Register Historic District in Chicago, IL. The initial phase involved a comprehensive field investigation, review of historic documents and recommendations for appropriate stabilization measures. Phase II of the rehabilitation, includes the adaptive re-use of the Market Hall as a gathering place for the community, thus revitalizing the area through re-use of the Market Hall compatible to its original use. Work includes masonry restoration (rebuilding of some areas and repointing of other areas); a new floor slab and accessible entries and toilet facilities. A National Historic Landmark since 1972, the brick and limestone Market Hall is one of the focal points in the Pullman Historic District. Designed by Solon S. Beman, this Italianate Renaissance Revival building was constructed in 1893-4 and was sited in the center of an arcaded square. Damaged from fire and presently unoccupied, this building is most in need of stabilization and restoration. | ||||
