MCGUIRE IGLESKI & ASSOCIATES, INC. is consultant for the existing conditions survey of masonry balustrades, steps, and ashlar walls in conjunction with expansion of the museum which includes extensive remodeling of the surrounding terraces. More than 4500 marble units were evaluated. Services include reinstallation documents and specifications for cleaning, restoration and replacement of marble units. McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. completed a historic preservation plan which included: survey, analysis, identification and description of the historic significance of the overall building and interior spaces. Presentation of the information takes the form of a report and database that will serve as a reference for long-term planning. The building is designed in the Classical Revival style and is based on the design of the Erechtheum on the Acropolis at Athens, Greece and is built of white Georgia marble. Designed by Daniel H. Burnham, the building was completed in 1921 by his successor firm Graham, Anderson, Probst and White. The Field Museum has been determined eligible for National Landmark status and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. | ||||
