Exterior Renovation of Bachelor Enlisted Quarters
MCGUIRE IGLESKI & ASSOCIATES, INC. as part of a team with FGM, Inc. rehabilitated Buildings 26 & 27 at the Naval Training Center, within the Great Lakes National Register Historic District in Great Lakes, Illinois. Awarded the AIA, Northeast Illinois Chapter 1997 Excellence in Architecture Award.
Services included complete hands-on façcade assessment, development of the restoration scope of work for brick, limestone and terra cotta façcades; parapet reconstruction, and window repair and replacement options; desing and specifications for repair and selective replacement of original materials.
McGuire Igleski & Associates, Inc. has also consulted on the restoration of buildings 1, 2, 2A, 3, 4 and 5 at the Naval Training Center
The Bachelor Enlisted Quarters Buildings, designed by Jarvis Hunt in 1906, are contributing buildings in the Historic District. Originally designed with open multi-use spaces for hammock sleeping and day activities to siulate life aboard ship, the buildings have been reused for dormitory housing and office space.
